This character was based off a character I drew in flash when I was around 13 (there is a screenshot somewhere on the internet and I am determined to find it). The original idea was an assassin in a random mask who moved so quickly you couldn't see their legs and they'd float wherever you directed them. This evolved into a wolf mask as I like wolves a lot, and then a fox mask as I figured foxes were sleeker and quieter than wolves. I don't know if this is true or not. Anyway, I then grew interested in Japanese mythology and learned about kitsune. This character is nothing like a kitsune, but the name stuck because im a nerdy little weeb.
The clothing was grey and black at first to emulate the darkness the character would vanish into while searching for the target, but when I stopped trying to make the game, I got more creative with the colours, looking at watercolour style painting and ukiyo-e art (made with a wood block carved then printed.) I then used a colour corrected version of "Kyubi no kitsune 九尾狐 / Gekko zuihitsu 月耕随筆" by Ogata Gekko which you can see in the sketch video.
Then I added rainbow lighting because I like it. Literally no other reason...
This character has the most iterations across a few years, but this is my absolute favourite. I think it shows how well I can work with cloth and light as well as non-human faces.
